OPPORTUNITIES FOR MINISTRY

SUNDAY SCHOOL

WEDNESDAY NIGHT LIVE

A ministry done each Wednesday afternoon following school. It encompasses children and youth from first grade through high school. It is a tremendously successful program that requires parental involvement, as well as a number of adult volunteers from the congregation.

BLUEBONNET COUNTRY PRESCHOOL
bbcpreschool@verizon.net

Operated as a ministry of FUMC with a Board that supervises the day-to-day operation, It is fully accredited and licensed by the State of Texas for children ages two through four. The community has recognized Bluebonnet preschool as a safe, Christian learning environment for their children.

THE PRAYER CHAIN

Part of the on-going care ministry of our congregation, it is a prayer chain composed of members who are devoted to being in prayer for special needs and times in our community life. Bill Foulds maintains an email notification to help keep the congregation informed of those in need of our prayers.

OUR PRAYER ROOM

Open each week day from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. and for prayer during all worship services and Church School times. It will be open for those calling and requesting its use.

THE MEN'S PRAYER BREAKFAST

Held each Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. They are currently meeting at the Highlander Restaurant. It is a time of fellowship and prayer for our community.

ANGEL FOOD MINISTRY

Our church is an official a host site! Angel Food's groceries are sold in a quantity that can fit into a medium-sized box or laundry basket at $25.00 per unit. Each month's menu is different from the previous month and consists of both fresh and frozen items with an average retail value of $50.00. Generally, one unit of food will feed a family of four for about one to two weeks and a single person for almost a month.

NURSE MINISTRY

Marjorie Bronk, a retired Registered Nurse (RN) with more that 40 years experience in the nursing field, offers monthly blood pressure checks on the last Sunday of the month. Marjorie has experience in the emergency room, pediatrics, mental health and mental retardation, hospice, Alzheimer's group work, grief counseling, and the the regulatory field. She will be available to check your blood pressure and can be available to check your blood sugar. She can be a resource in helping you find answers about medications, understanding lab results, explain tests that may be ordered, assist in finding health care resources available to you, and even help you to understand insurance claims. Often we have concerns, but we don't know who to ask, don't want to burden the doctor or to take time from their busy schedules to answer our questions. Marjorie can help to put your mind at ease and explain things so you can understand.

RESPITE PROGRAM

The respite program is offered every Tuesday from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM in the old fellowship hall (narthex) at the Burnet First United Methodist Church. Diane Carothers, the Wesley nurse from the Highland Lakes United Methodist Church , is the director of the program. She can be reached at 325-388-3035. She interviews and evaluates potential clients to see is they are appropriate for the program. It is primarily for those with early stage Alzheimer's or dementia.

This program is under the auspices of the Alzheimer's Association in Austin. There is no funding and has been carried mainly by donations. We may look at grants down the road. The Church does not charge them for any thing.

SOARING EAGLES EMMAUS COMMUNITY

Meets the first Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. for potluck and fellowship followed by worship at 7:00 p.m. Anyone who has attended a Walk to Emmaus (or one of its counterparts) is welcomed to attend.

BUS MINISTRY

We need volunteers who would be willing to drive the bus on Sunday mornings. If you would like to volunteer, please call the church office at 756-2229. Also, please let us know of persons who could benefit from getting a ride to church on Sunday morning.

BURNET FELLOWSHIP OF CHURCH WOMEN

The Burnet FUMC is an active participant in this Fellowship which meets every 5th Monday of a month at 2 p.m. Meeting places are passed from church to church in alphabetical order. Each church provides officers who serve for one year. Meetings last about an hour. Following a business meeting, the host church provides a program and refreshments. This group gives generously to local charities and donates cupcakes each month to the Headstart program for young children. It is an excellent way to meet ladies from other denominations and is open to women of any church in Burnet.

A special thanks to BurnetPC for hosting our website.
